<h1><strong>Bylaws</strong></h1><h2><strong>Article I: Purpose</strong></h2><p>The purpose of this organization is to promote service, patriotism, and community involvement. We support veterans, active-duty military personnel, their families, and our local communities through programs, advocacy, and volunteer efforts.</p><h2><strong>Article II: Membership</strong></h2><ul><li>Membership is open to individuals who meet eligibility requirements as outlined by the national guidelines.</li><li>All membership applications are subject to review and approval by the leadership of the organization.</li></ul><h2><strong>Article III: Officers</strong></h2><p>Officers shall be elected annually and may include roles such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and others as determined by the organization. Officers are responsible for overseeing operations and ensuring the organization fulfills its mission.</p><h2><strong>Article IV: Meetings</strong></h2><p>Regular meetings will be held on a recurring basis to conduct official business, share updates, and plan events. A quorum, defined by internal rules, must be present to vote on matters requiring approval.</p><h2><strong>Article V: Committees</strong></h2><p>The organization may form standing or temporary committees to manage specific programs or initiatives. Committee members are appointed by leadership and report progress to the general membership.</p><h2><strong>Article VI: Finances</strong></h2><p>All financial transactions and records shall be maintained with transparency. A Treasurer will provide regular reports, and an annual financial review or audit may be conducted as needed.</p><h2><strong>Article VII: Amendments</strong></h2><p>These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote during a scheduled meeting, provided prior notice of the proposed changes has been given to all members.</p>

These initiatives reflect our commitment to service and engagement.</p><h2><strong>Veteran Support</strong></h2><p>We assist veterans through outreach, assistance programs, and partnerships with other veteran service organizations to ensure they receive the care and recognition they deserve.</p><h2><strong>Youth and Education</strong></h2>
<p>We sponsor educational initiatives, scholarships, leadership programs, and patriotic youth events designed to foster civic responsibility and community awareness in the next generation.</p><h2><strong>Volunteer Opportunities</strong></h2><p>Volunteers are the heart of our mission. Members and supporters can help organize events, participate in drives, and support fundraising efforts that uplift our local area.</p><h2><strong>Events and Activities</strong></h2><p>Our calendar includes social gatherings, memorial ceremonies, educational workshops, and public service events. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.</p>

Community Programs

<p>American Legion Post 240 will hold a monthly meeting on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the VFW hall at  4902 Roanoke Rd, Daleville, VA, the corner of Route 220 and Country Club Rd.   The social hour starts at 6 PM with a complimentary dinner.  The business meeting starts promptly at 7 PM and lasts about an hour. </p>
